Tareq Hadhad, a former Syrian refugee, is the founder and CEO of Peace by Chocolate, renowned for his entrepreneurial journey on Canada's East coast. Since immigrating to Canada as a Syrian refugee in 2015, he has revitalized his family's chocolate-making business, creating jobs for Nova Scotian locals and refugees across the country. Recipient of numerous accolades including EY Entrepreneur of The Year 2021 and RBC’s top Immigrant Award, Tareq's story embodies resilience and success. A sought-after speaker, Tareq has shared his inspiring narrative at global events and forums, advocating for peace, entrepreneurship, and the contributions of newcomers. Tareq was recently named among Atlantic Business Magazine’s 30 under 30 Innovators. A feature film, Peace by Chocolate, based on the Hadhad family story premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and launched in Cineplex theaters across Canada in the spring of 2022. The film won several film festivals awards and accolades.
